From one restaurant in 1965, to more than 1,000 sixty years later. We're woven into the fabric of local economies across the UK. Each individual KFC restaurant creates an average of more than 32 jobs, and adds more than £0.6 million in economic value to the area every year. And for each £100 of value generated by one of our restaurants, an extra £5 of value is created through knock on local spending.
Great chicken's just the start. We're also good neighbours who show up when it matters.
We know that real communities face real challenges. So we roll up our sleeves and help solve them. Through programmes like Hatch, we feed potential, not just appetites.
In other words, you know when we’ve arrived.
The KFC Youth Foundation was launched in 2015 to empower young people across the UK through three core programmes: the Community Grants Programme, dedicated Youth Hubs, and the employability initiative, Hatch.
Through the Community Grants Programme, Foundation has backed hundreds of local non-profits that offer safe spaces, mentoring, and real pathways into work. Over the past five years, they have awarded £1.6 million across 590 grants, supporting thousands of young people facing economic disadvantage.
But the work doesn’t stop there. In 2025, the Foundation opened its first Youth Hub, in Middlesbrough, offering open-access youth services and tailored support. With plans to open two more hubs by 2030, their ambition is only growing.
The KFC Youth Foundation also champions young people to get into employment through Hatch, helping young people not in education, employment or training to gain paid work experience and build confidence.
The Foundation drives this mission. KFC proudly supports it.
The Foundation’s approach is rooted in the belief that every young person deserves the chance to thrive. By creating spaces where young people feel safe, supported, and inspired - whether through a trusted mentor, a welcoming hub, or a first step into employment. The programmes are designed to build confidence, unlock talent, and equip young people with the skills they need to shape their own futures.
11 million people in the UK face food insecurity. At the same time, we've got chicken going spare that's too good to waste.
In 2021, we partnered with FareShare to get our surplus food where it's needed most. FareShare are the UK's biggest charity turning food waste into social good. They collect food from across the industry and get it to over 8,500 charities and community groups. Like school clubs, community centres, hostels, refuges, lunch clubs, and hospices.
Our partnership broke new ground for FareShare’s Go programme. It was the first time they'd worked with frozen food. And it meant they could deliver more variety for communities and proper high-protein meals, while giving people the flexibility to eat on their own terms, in their own time.
In total, we’ve donated 3 million meals to over 900 community partners across the UK. Almost all of our 1,000 restaurants are in, and by the end of 2025, we want that number to be 100%.
Good food shouldn't go to waste when people need it.
“We’ve seen an uptake in the use of our services as more people turn to community kitchens and food banks to get by. That’s why our partnership with KFC is so valuable, as the chicken they donate ensures that no matter what they are going through in life, people can rely on getting a good meal.”
