Where it all began

Back in 1965, Colonel Harland Sanders opened our very first UK restaurant in Preston, Lancashire. One small shop. 11 herbs and spices. Big dreams.

We didn't just serve chicken. We changed what chicken could be.

Still inspirational. Still original.

Fast forward 60 years, and you’ll find us in over 27,000 locations across the planet. Here in the UK and Ireland? We’re talking more than 1,000 restaurants - that’s one in almost every community. We're a £1.5bn-a-year business that’s contributed £11.6bn to the UK economy. Right now, there are 33,500 of us building real careers. And we’re not done yet - because we’re investing another £1.49 billion in the UK over the next 5 years.

We are not small fry. In any sense.

But the numbers only tell part of our story. The spirit of our first restaurant still inspires us today. We’re still original. And still making fresh chicken, every day. 

With great chicken comes great responsibility. Today, our big dream is to be the most iconic brand to work for in the UK.

The first KFC drive thru opened in Stacey Bushes, Milton Keynes.

2014

KFC UKI became a £1 billion business.
