Whatever role you’ve got your eye on at KFC, doing your homework first will give you the best chance of landing the job. Here’s everything you need to know before you smash that apply button.

What should I wear to my interview?

Smart business casual is always a winner, however, wear something you feel comfortable in.

What kind of questions will I be asked?

Expect questions about your availability, customer service experience, ability to work as part of a team, and how you get stuck in to busy or challenging situations. All the important stuff.

Do I need previous experience to get the job?

Not necessarily. Experience can be helpful, but a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and good communication skills will get you further than you think.

What are the working hours like?

We offer loads of flexibility, and shifts can vary across evenings, weekends, and holidays. 

Do you provide training?

Yes! We’ll give you everything you need to help you learn the role and understand what makes KFC, KFC. The team will be here to support you from day one, so you won’t be on your own.

What does a typical day look like?

You’ll roll up your sleeves and help out with everything from food prep, to serving customers, keeping the restaurant clean, and working with your team to get stuff done.

What are you looking for in a team member?

We don’t ask for much. Just reliability, good teamwork and communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

What opportunities are there for progression?

There’s no limit to how far you can go! With the right attitude and performance, many of our team members have gone on to become shift leaders, assistant managers, and even restaurant managers.

Do I need to bring anything to my interview?

Yes - this is essential. We’ll need a copy of your CV, proof of right to work, and any other documents we mentioned in your interview invitation.

How soon will I hear back after my interview?

This can depend on a few things, but we'll aim to call you within a few days.

What should I wear to my interview?

What will my interview focus on?

Expect questions about your leadership style, how you manage, motivate and develop a team, the way you handle performance issues, and your operational knowledge of things like Profit & Loss (P&L) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
 

Will I be asked to share examples of past experience?

Almost certainly. We want to know what you’re made of, so, be prepared to tell us about times when you've led teams, handled challenges, improved performance, or developed others.
 

Do I need to know about KFC’s values or culture?

This one goes without saying! A good understanding of our values, customer focus, and leadership expectations will really help you make your mark on us. It's good to also read up on our key beliefs in Authenticity, Potential and Community. 

What are the biggest responsibilities of the role?

There’s a lot to take care of. Everything from team leadership and shift management, to customer service, stock and labour control, training, and making sure operational standards are met.
 

What does career progression look like at KFC?

There are leadership opportunities within your role and we have clear pathways with development programmes and internal promotions, too - all designed to take you from Assistant Restaurant General Manager (ARGM) to Restaurant General Manager (RGM) and beyond. How far you go is up to you.
 

Will I be expected to work weekends and evenings?

Definitely - flexibility is super important in management roles! Shifts often include evenings, weekends, and public holidays, but there’s lots of opportunity to flex this in a way that works for everyone.

Do you provide training and support for new managers?

Of course! We’ve created some brilliant onboarding and leadership development initiatives to support new managers in their new roles. There will be plenty of tools and support available to set you up for success in journey with us.

Should I bring anything to my interview?

You’ll need a copy of your CV, proof of right to work, and any other documents we mentioned in your interview invitation. Don’t forget them!

How soon will I hear back after my interview?

We’ll aim to let you know within a few days with feedback. But this can vary depending on the number of candidates and how many interview stages there are.

What should I wear to my interview?

What will my interview focus on?

We’ll chat about your skills, experience, and what you’re passionate about. You can expect some capability questions based off of the job description. But most importantly, you should think of it as a two-way conversation for us to get to know each other.

Where are your roles based?

Our RSC (aka HQ) is in the heart of Woking, Surrey, just a 24-minute train from Waterloo. We have onsite parking and are a quick 5 minute walk from Woking Train station.

 

Do you offer flexible or remote roles?

Yep. However the majority of our roles are hybrid, where we ask for 2 days a week in the office. Which days? That depends on your team, but we do love to embrace our face to face collaboration time. 

How can I prep for my interview?

Think of it as a conversation. Take some time to get to know us - our brand, our values, and what makes KFC, KFC. Come ready to share your proudest achievements, but don’t be afraid to talk about the challenges too, we love hearing what you’ve learned along the way.

How soon will I hear back after my interview?

You will always hear back from us within a week of your interview.
